Where Can You Legally Marry in Meath?

Irish law requires that legal marriages take place in venues that are open to the public and accessible for inspection. Private homes and gardens, no matter how beautiful, don’t meet these legal requirements.

You can read the official criteria on the HSE’s guidance for approved wedding venues in Ireland.

The good news? County Meath is filled with stunning, fully approved venues that make unforgettable settings for your ceremony, including:

Trim Castle Hotel – historic and regal, overlooking Ireland’s largest Anglo-Norman castle.

Boyne Hill House Estate – romantic riverbank setting with walled gardens and woodlands.

Tankardstown House – timeless elegance and five-star style.

Clonabreany House – Georgian charm with a countryside heart.

Bellinter House Hotel & Spa – modern luxury meets classical beauty.

The Millhouse, Slane – industrial chic beside the River Boyne.

Dunboyne Castle Hotel – contemporary glamour within historic walls.

Newgrange Hotel – right in the heart of Navan, ideal for modern celebrations.

Headfort Arms Hotel – vibrant, stylish, and family-run with warmth at its core.

I’ll help you choose a venue that fits your vision and meets all the legal requirements while keeping the magic and meaning at the centre of it all.

The Process for Getting Married in Ireland

Answers for Your Ceremony Journey

Your Meath Wedding Questions, Answered

From legal requirements and venue rules to timelines and booking details, here you’ll find clear answers to the questions most couples ask when planning a ceremony in County Meath.

Can we have our legal wedding outdoors in Meath?

Yes - as long as the outdoor space is part of an approved venue and meets the HSE’s public access rules.

Do you offer both legal and symbolic ceremonies?

Absolutely. I perform both legal weddings and symbolic (non-legal) ceremonies, ideal for couples marrying abroad or wanting a spiritual but non-religious celebration.

When should we book our celebrant?

Ideally 9–12 months in advance, especially for summer or weekend weddings.

What’s the difference between a registrar and a celebrant?

Registrars work for the State and perform civil ceremonies in offices or registered venues only. As a celebrant and solemniser, I can legally marry you anywhere in Ireland or Northern Ireland - indoors or outdoors with complete personalisation.
